Hunter Montgomery, Owner and Managing Attorney
Hunter Montgomery is the owner and managing attorney of the office, serving the Lowcountry of South Carolina. He has focused his practice on Estate Planning and probate law ever since joining the South Carolina Bar in 2002. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina.
After his undergraduate studies, he graduated cum laude from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia, having earned a Juris Doctorate. Hunter is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Beaufort County Bar Association, the Hilton Head Island Bar Association and has served on a number of charitable and advisory boards in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area.
He is an acclaimed speaker in the field of estate planning, probate and asset protection and is also a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, a prestigious nationwide organization of estate planning attorneys.
Hunter, a native of Mississippi but having moved to Beaufort County in 1984, has called Beaufort County home for about 40 years. He currently lives in Bluffton. When he is not busy at work, Hunter fishes, hunts and generally enjoys the outdoors.
Patrick Lee, Attorney
William “Patrick” Lee IV is from Atlanta, Georgia, and moved to the South Carolina Lowcountry in 2020. He completed his undergraduate studies at Georgia State earning a Bachelor of Arts focused in Political Science. In 2011 Patrick graduated from Georgia State University College of Law. He was subsequently admitted to the Georgia Bar.
Being a seasoned attorney with a diverse legal background working in litigation and conducting jury trials in Georgia, Patrick decided to step away from the adversarial nature of litigation and focus on estate planning, trust administration, and probate. Patrick was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in the fall of 2023.
Patrick resides in Bluffton with his favorite buddy, Kingsley (his dog). A few fun things he likes to do in his free time is collect LEGOs and watch movies, especially any in the Marvel series.
Kathy Schnelle, Paralegal
Originally from West Virginia, Kathy Schnelle moved to the Lowcountry in 2002. Joining Montgomery Law Firm in May of 2021, Kathy brings a wealth of knowledge from her background in Human Resources and Accounting. Over her time with our firm, she has grown to see the importance and value of Estate Planning and greatly enjoys her role as a paralegal for the firm. On her days off, you will find Kathy either on the golf course or at home watching football with her trusty sidekick, Annie the dachshund.
Jennifer Montgomery, Office Manager
Jennifer Montgomery is Hunter’s wife and serves as the office manager, assisting in multiple areas of the firm. Originally from Charleston, SC, she attended Clemson University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting.
When she is not in the office, Jenny enjoys spending time with her children and teaching the joy of music through her local piano studio. One can definitely guarantee where to find her first thing in the morning. . . at the local CrossFit gym!
Kimberly Shaughnessy, Legal Assistant
Kimberly Shaughnessy joined Montgomery Law Firm as a Legal Assistant in 2022. Excellent customer service skills, precise attention to detail, and superb personal skills ensure the smooth running of the firm’s administrative tasks. Kim enjoys communicating with our clients and assisting them with their needs. Having a sympathetic ear is a great asset!
